The Producer Price Index (PPI) program measures the average change over time in the selling prices received by domestic producers for their output. The prices included in the PPI are from the first commercial transaction for many products and some services.

The Producer Price Index for Finished Goods fell 0.9 percent in August, seasonally
adjusted. This decrease followed advances of 1.2 percent in July and 1.8 percent in June.
Prices for finished goods other than foods and energy advanced 0.2 percent following a
0.7-percent rise in the previous month.
