and all other service periods. Nonveterans are men and women who never served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Other service periods include the
periods between World War II and the Korean War, between the Korean War and the Vietnam era, and between the Vietnam era and the Gulf War era.
A service-connected disability is a health condition or impairment caused or made worse by military service. The associated disability rating,
which can range from 0 to 100 percent, is determined from a rating schedule published in the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, "Title 38."
